Short Description:Situated to the south of Aizawl at the Aizawl-Thenzawl-Lunglei road, it is popular destination for tourists where verdant grassy glades and virgin forests preserved since the days of the Mizo Chiefs surrounds the entire region. Visitors gets a glimpse of the scenic rolling hills covered in a sea of clouds en route the destination with several seasonal waterfalls along the roadside during the monsoon season. The quaint village of Hmuifang with all its simplicity and traditional way of life perched on top of the hills depicts the rural life of the Mizos. It is an ideal place for a quick getaway from the city life with plenty of nature-based activities on offer.

Where and what time to start the day from and why: The best time to start the journey is al 7:00 A.M from Aizawl as the road journey is most scenic and offers mesmeric views during the morning.
A chronological day itinerary:
7:00 A.M - After waking up to a fresh early morning sunrise have a cup of tea/coffee and head to Falkawn village. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the misty covered hills along the way. Visit the Mizo Typical Village at Falkawn to see the age old depiction of the lifestyle & culture of the Mizos forefathers. A live museum that comprises of the Lal In (Chief’s House), Zawlbuk (boys’ dormitory), Pum (blacksmith), commoners house & the memorial stones of the freedom fighters erected at the entrance can be seen.
8:30 A.M - Next stop is at Muallungthu village where the Tropic of Cancer passes right through the highway near the village. One can take pictures for a memorable preserve to take back home.
10:00 A.M - Reach Tourist Resort at Hmuifang and breakfast at the Resort. Take a stroll around the virgin forest of Hmuifang and the grassy glades atop the peak which is an ideal destination for a family picnic and outdoor camping. Spend time at LAD Park just adjacent to the resort to enjoy nature amongst the lush green forest and experience the tree houses and hanging bridges.
12:00 Noon - Head towards Hmuifang village by foot which is about 15 minutes walk from the Resort. A quaint and charming village located on the hillock with a beautiful view on either side of the hills. The rural life of the Mizos can be experienced here. The cliff on the side of the villages offers a panoramic view of the blue horizon.
2:00 P.M - Head towards Sialsuk village to Sialsuk Tlang (peak) which is a must visit destination for every tourists. Enjoy the 360° view of the surrounding hills and the grassy meadows under the clear blue sky.
3:45 P.M - Enjoy a cup of evening tea at Sialsuk village. One may take a brief walk through the village and visit a Mizo family for an interaction with a local to have a glimpse of their household and way of life.
5:00 P.M - Head back to Aizawl city and en route enjoy the beautiful vistas of sunset. Reach hotel at 7:00 P.M and relax for the evening.

- One is advised to carry cash in hand as credit/ debit cards are widely not accepted in street markets.
- It is advisable for tourists to carry warm clothing between November - January.
- For visitors, obtaining Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Indian nationals is a prerequisite before entering the state. ILP can be obtained at Resident Commissioner’s offices, at interstate check gates or on arrival at Lengpui Airport. Foreigners with valid visas can enter the state, however visitors from countries specified in the Foreigners (Protected Areas) Order 1958 and corresponding regulations must first obtain permission from Ministry of Home Affairs.
