Tokalo Wildlife Sanctuary, Siaha District

The second-largest wildlife sanctuary in the state, Tokalo covers an area of 250 Sq km and is located in the south-eastern part of Siaha District. Declared a wildlife sanctuary in 2007, it is looked after by the Environment and Forest Department of the Mara Autonomous District Council. Composed of Moist Deciduous and Semi-evergreen Forest, Tokalo is home to an amazing variety of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles. It is also noted particularly for its rich variety of butterflies.

Tokalo is within easy reach from Phura. The best time to visit is from October and April for which one should contact the Department of Environment and Forests, Mara Autonomous District Council
